Octapharma
Octapharma is a family-owned pharmaceutical company based in Switzerland but with operations across Europe.
They are one of the largest human protein manufacturers in the world, developing and producing human proteins from human plasma and human cell lines. I was commissioned recently by Luminous Design to photograph some of the operations in Stockholm, Lingolsheim and Strasbourg. I find these shoots pretty interesting going to different offices and labs to document people working. The shoots were of certain key people who were being featured in the annual report.
Part of the photography was in the labs documenting people working. Because of the nature of the clean environment, all my equipment was wiped down with alcohol wipes and I wore the same full face covering as the scientists working. Which obviously makes the job of taking photos much harder. But it is really humbling going into these high tech labs where hundreds of people are working to save lives. And this is the environment and conditions they work in daily. It really reminds me of what it must have been like during the pandemic for the staff of the NHS.
